She’s out of her mind, but what Batman villain isn’t? I decided to cosplay Poison Ivy for Halloween because she is fairly recognizable to the general public, she is evil, which could be considered scary or
appropriate for halloween, and she is definitely a little sexy which is absolutely appropriate for Halloween. However, I did not make her costume as scandalous as I’ve seen others do it. I did not want to go overboard. I choose to make a variation of Ivy from the 90’s Batman the Animated Series Cartoon. In which, Ivy had almost no powers but a really cute costume that didn’t require me to paint my whole body a bright green. That’s too much of a hassle for Halloween.
As far as constructing the costume goes, I bought the leotard and the tights, and sewed the boot covers and gloves from a pattern that I drafted myself. There was really no hope of me finding an existing pattern of gloves with super-hero spikes on them, so I had to improvise. Every garment is made from Spandex and Lycra, totally hero (and villain) approved materials. The wig I bought from ebay and styled it myself in the typical fashion. And the vines I put together from fake flowers I bought at the dollar store. All in all it was a pretty easy and cheap cosplay.
